At what age am I allowed to have sex with an adult?
I’m 17 years old, and my BF that I’ve had for 2 years now is 24. I always thought I had to be 18 because he is more than 3 years older than me, but then I read a law stating legal consent was age 17 in TX, and now I’m just confused. Does this mean that I can have sex with him now? Or do I have to wait another year? I just don’t want to do anything that might get him in trouble because I do love him alot.

The age of consent is the age above which a person can legally have sex with someone else (also of the age of consent or older). In TX the age of consent is 17. Since you are 17, and your boyfriend is older than 17, you can legally have sex with one another. However, if there is evidence that he had sex with you bore you turned 17, then he could be in in trouble with the law.
