In your state, sexual activity between you over 18 and the female 16 would be illegal. "Dating" without sex is not illegal, but is dangerous if the two of you have a falling out, for example, and she were to accuse you of sexual contact with her, it could be difficult for you to defend yourself many people, including many members of the police or courts, would tend to believe the minor female or if the two of you are dating and "nature takes its course," you will have committed a crime.
