Is it legal for an employer to take an employee cellphone?
My job is trying to start a new rule thats states, when
an employee clocks in they MUST leave their
cellphone in the provide box and will be release to
the employee on break and after their shift. Is this
legal?

Yes, this is perfectly legal. There is no law which mandates that an employee be allowed a cell phone at work. So unless you are entitled to have your phone with you under the terms of a union agreement or employment contract, you have no claim here. The fact is that a company can set the conditions of the workplace much as it sees fit (absent some form of legally actionable discrimination).
