Is it legal to possess a lock pick set as long as I have no intent to use them for anything other than recreation on my own property?

I want to buy a lock pick set for a hobby. I will buy my own locks to use them on and will not use them on any property other than my own. Is this legal?

Under the laws of all states in this country, there is nothing illegal per se for a person to have a lock pick in his or her possession so long as no criminal activity is being done. For example, many lock smith companies have such items. If the item that you are writing about is being sold on the open market, then in all likelihood your possession of it is allowed.
