My employer wants to lower my hourly

Yes it is legal. A business can set the conditions of employment much as it sees fit. This includes what to pay an employee and why. Accordingly, reducing an hourly wage is legal unless there is an employment contract or union agreement to the contrary. Also, such a reduction must not constitute some form of legally actionable discrimination. Unfortunately, if a lwoered wage is not acceptable to you, your only recourse is to complain and risk dismiaal or quit.
