Is my wife eleligable for unemployment insurance?
My wife has been let go from the school she has worked for for 5 years. The only reason that was given is that it wasn’t a “good fit”. Typically she would sign a contract for the following year. This past year she did not sign one but continued to work. This is putting us in a serious financial situation with the economy where its at. Will she be able to get unemployment benefits?

She should be able to, as long as she met the standard requirements of working enough hours within the past time period (working full time for at least a year more than qualifies a person). Since most people do not have contracts for their job, whether or not your wife had a contract does not affect her unemployment eligibility. Also, being let go, including for being not a "good fit," allows you to collect (resigning of your own free will does not). Your wife should contact your state's labor department or local unemployment office and begin the application process.
