Is the dealership responsible if they picked my car up to fix it but it caught fire while it was on there lot?
The mechanic said that when he was driving he called his boss because it smelled like gas; his boss said keep driving. Keep in mind that I purchased it on Wednesday and this all happened on Friday.

If you had entrusted your car to the care of the mechanic you could have created a "bailment" situation under the law and I do think that you may have a case against them if they acted negligently or otherwisw, depending on the law in your state. They have insurance. They can put in a claim. Seek legal help. Good luck.
