By law in some cases there is known what is called a "3 day right of recission". Pursuant to it, a consumer may cancel a contract within 72 hours of entering into it. However, its scope is limited. Typically it only applies to door-to-door sales, mortgages, timeshare sales and certain other transactions. A purchase such as you describe may or may not be covered. You'll need to contact your states Department of Consumer Affairs. Also, you may be able to obtain this information from your state;s Attoreney Genral's office.
