Is there any law protecting an employee from being scheduled certain hours when the employer knows they don’t have reliable transportation?

In California. There is no public transportation available to me from 12 am – 2 am and that’s when I get off. My employer knows I don’t have reliable transportation but chooses to schedule me there despite there being others who can do the job who have reliable transportation.

No, there is no such law. Therefore, unless this action violates the terms of an employment contract or union agreement, it is legal. Also, it must not constitute some form of legally actionable discrimination. Otherwise, as an "at will" worker, your employer is free to set the conditions of work much as it sees fit. This includes when to schedule you to come in.
