My company has a union although I’m not a member, if they strike can I be fined by the union?

I am currently working for a company who has a union. I did not sign the form to become part of the union after my first 90 days. The union will soon strike over labor here at my site. Will I be fined for coming to work? Can the union also force me to pay them wages even though I am not apart of it? At my company all of the employees are in the union except supervisors.

You are sure that you are not part of the union?  Then the union does not have the right to discipline you in any way.  If you were a union member then that would be a different story. Courts have upheld the union's right to discipline its members which can include fining them.  But if you are considered non-union (or a private sector employee) then you have the right not to strike.  You are covered for your decision under the National Labor Relations Act.  I would make sure that the union is aware that you are not a union member at this point in time.  You do not want to take a chance here.  Good luck.
