If my daughter needs a pet for medical reasons, can her lanlord ask what meds you’re on and for how long?
My daughter is chronically depressed. She is 30 years old and in her own apartment with 2 kids. She has been seeing a doctor for years and she takes medications. Her doctor told her she could benefit from a therapeutic companion like a dog. The doctor gave her a note to that effect. Her apartment manager told her if she got a note from the doctor she could have a small dog. When given the note the manager added to the requirements that she needs to know how long she’s been depressed, what meds she’s on and how long she’s been on them. I say she doesn’t have to reveal her medication history.
