I don't know about that; you might want to look in the severance package description to see what it says there. But I wouldn't worry too much about it, since as long as they let you keep working, they'll have to keep paying you, and that won't count against your severance, either.
There aren't a lot of hard-and-fast rules in this area, because in most cases, an employer isn't under any obligation to provide severance at all. It's customary, but not legally required.
