What to do if my HOA is charging me legal fees for services of which I was unaware?
My HOA is charging me legal fees for reasons I don’t actually know. I assume they used a lawyer cause my mail box needed repair and I had a few weeds, But we never got notified a lawyer was involved and etc. Are they legally allowed to charge me for a lawyer they used, when we were never notified, brought to court or contacted by their lawyer at any point? This bill is a total surprise to me and I feel like I shouldn’t have to pay, after all we pay are HOA dues on time every .

The first place to find an answer should be your bylaws and CCR. Check the CCR and bylaw to find whether there is a provision regarding this. If not, you should go to the board meeting to request an explanation.
