I went to the courthouse where they should have had a divorce record and there was none to be found. I need to know if in fact we are not legally married. He said to me that his daughter helped him get a divorce over the internet.

Under Florida Law if he was not legally divorced you are not legally married. You will need to consult a lawyer to determine what your rights are based upon your circumstances. The staring point is that you have been living together without being married.
