If my husband is liable for a debt am I also responsible?
My husband flipped out and stabbed our 31 year old son. His medical insurer does not want to pay the hospitial bill and is trying to sue my husband (who is disabled and in prison) to get reinbursed. I am disabled also. The only asset we have is our vehivle which we bought after fighting Social Security eafor 10 yrs. I was told that the insurer could take our car to pay the bill because my husband and I are still married. Do I have to worry they could take my car?

Under the laws of all states in this country one's automobile worth less than $8,000 is exempt from a judgment levy. In your matter if the car that you have written about is worth less than $8,000 it would not be allowed to be legally taken from you in the event of a judgment concerning the matter you have written about.
