What to do if my husband has credit card debt that is only in his name?

He stopped paying on it and they have now seized our bank account that is in both of our names. If I open a new account only in my name will they be able to seize it? Can they go after me in any way for this debt? How can I protect myself. We live in a community property state.

From what you have written, under thye laws of all states in this country the judgment that seemingly resulted from your husband's credit card is a community debt where your own property would be subject to levy to satisfy the judgment.

There really is no way to protect yourself as to the matter that you have written about other than trying to pay off the judgment on terms that you can live with or continue to move your bank accounts that would be subject to levy.
