If my mother died without a Wil and the only thing she had was a car that is worth about $1500, how do I apply for a lost title and registration?
The registration has expired and we can’t find the title or the registration. We do have a receipt that the car was paid off.

I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds as if your Mother's estate would qualify for probate under the Small Estate provisions of Texas Law. That is the best way to deal with this. Depending on your county you can go online and look up a check list or forms to use. Once you prepare and file the affidavit you can transfer title. Good luck.
