If my mother recently died with massive medical bills, after my father passes away will his estate be liable for her medical bills?

They did not get paid since all my parents assets are in my father’s name and we didn’t need probate.

I am so sorry for your loss.  Uner Maine law, a husband or wofe is not responsible for the bills of the other just be reason of marriage.  Your Father would have to have agreed in writing to be responsible.  If he did not then you do not have to pay them. If it comes up when your Dad passes on demand to see the documents he signed. Make the demand in writing.  Good luck.
