If my late mother owned a house that I just found out my sister is renting and something happens to or on the property, can I also be held liable?
At the time my sister said that the house belonged to her. My mother passed 8 years ago.

If you did not inherit your mother's house, you are NOT liable.
If you did inherit the house, you are liable as the owner of the property. If the property is being rented by your sister, you and she are landlords
