What to do regarding a letter of abandonment?

My wife and I will be getting a divorce soon. She is leaving on Monday to move to a different State and I am keeping my 2 kids. My family said I need to have her sign a letter of abandonment but not sure of what to put on it.

Rather than seeking that your spouse sign a letter of "abandonment" I suggest that you immediately consult with a family law attorney to draft up a stipulation for custody to be signed by your spouse where you have sole physical and legal custody of your children subject to a court order to be filed in the local county court house.
