What to do if I was accused of selling a counterfeit item?

I received notice from a law office representing a company whose product I sold online. The notice states that they are accusing me of selling a counterfeit product to the companies investigator. They are asking for $20,000. This is totally absurd! What type of lawyer should I consult with? I feel like they are trying to bully me into settling when I’ve done nothing wrong. I did not sell a counterfeit item.

I suggest that you consult with a consumer law attorney about the matter that you have written about. There are many unscrupulous attorneys hired by companies to bully just like you. Assuming you were simply reselling an item online you did nothing wrong.
