What is the law regarding an outside security camera?

I have mounted a security camera on the side of my house, the camera also captures part of the neighbor’s property as well which is on the side of his house. All of this, however, is visible from the street. Is it legal to have the camera here?

If you place a security camera for purposes of suveilling your property and it just happens to capture your neighbor's house or yard which are visible from public areas, then they can't press charges against you as they have no reasonable expectation of privacy outdoors.
