sharing company paid hotel with others

I work for a retail merchandising company and travel a lot for work. The company puts us in hotel. My wife and I work together and when my wife is not able to work, due to illness or other obligations, they try to put me into a room somebody I do not know and do not trust. Can they legally do this?

Unless this acton violates the terms of a union agreement or employment contract, it is legal. Basically, in an "at will" work situation, a company can set the conditions of employment much as it sees fit (absent some form of legally actionable discrimnation).
