Under federal labor law, anytime worked over 40 hours in a work week is to be paid as overtime or "OT", which is 1/12 times the employees hourly wage. There is no requirement for 2x the pay rate. However, only "non-exempt" employees are entitled to OT. Typically this means someone who is paid hourly, who earns under a certain amount annually, who is not in a supervisorycapacity, etc. You can go to your state's department of labor website or the federal DOL website for further information. Further, if you were not paid the OT that you were lega;y required to be paid, then you ccan pursue legal action for this wage claim. You can consult directly with an local employment law attoreny and/or contact your state's DOL.
