Should we get a DBA or Change the LLC name?
Hello,
We created an LLC. In few months we discovered that our LLC name is very similar to another. The difference is only one letter. The problem is that they do the same activity what we do. We are afraid of being accused of likelihood or confusion.
Thank you,
Tamara

You are better off changing the LLC name, since with a D/B/A, you still need in some contexts to disclose the underlying business's name (e.g. "Acme LLC, d/b/a Coyote Ventures"). To avoid any chance of confusion, remane the LLC so you never need to use the possibly confusing or infringing name.
