If I was stopped and received a citation for not having a valid license, can this ticket hold up in court if no other charge was given for the reason of why I was stopped?

The police must have had a reason as to why you were stopped even though the reason might not have been something that resulted in a separate charge.

Probable cause is a reasonable belief that criminal activity is afoot.  If the police had probable cause to stop you and then discovered you didn't have a valid license, the ticket for driving without a valid license will be upheld by the court.
