What to do if we had a contracter take $7000 from us for work never completed?
After we won in court, he still never paid us, and I did a stupid thing. I posted bad reviews about him on facebook and craigslist using a fake account. Now he called the sheriff, and the sheriff called me saying that they are investigating me for felonies. I can’t believe this man could steal peoples money and its a civil case but I post bad things about him and what he’s done and its criminal. I cannot afford an attorney.

If you cannot afford an attorney with respect to the alleged contact by the sheriff about some facebook entries that you created about the matter you have written about, go down to your local legal aid clinic to see what can be done. My gut feeling is that the calls to you by the sheriff are not from a real sheriff deputy. As to the $7,000 owed you, I suggest that you contact an attorney who practices collection law to see what he or she can do on the collection of the $7,000. Possibly such an attorney can help you on the facebook matter you have written about.
