What are the laws about having a working fire alarm in apartment buildings?
There was a fire 2 doors down from my unit on the 3rd floor (top floor). A lady passed, No fire alarm pull stations worked the night of the fire. The fire department said there is a request for them to fix them. I am dealing with emotional and mental distress from this event and was wondering what actions i should take?

The laws of all states require in a residential apartment house working fire alarms. Circumstances happen where fire alarms for no known reason and the absence of any negligence of a particular person just do not function.
I can imagine your distress from the fire at your apartment house. Unless you suffered actual physical injuries from the fire, most states do not allow you to have a claim as a matter of law for emotional distress.
