In an "at will" employment arrangement, a company can set the conditions of the workplace much as it sees fit. This includes who to suspend and for how long. Further, the fact is that an employer need not state the length of a suspension. That is so long as such an action is not prohibited by the terms of an employment contract or union/collective bargaining agreement.
