What can I do if my girfriend’s mom’s car radiator blew up on me and I was severly injured but she was uninsured?

The car had been in an autoshop that day for the radiator but they don’t want to help or admit they were at fault. I went to hospital with 3rd degree burns on 35% of my body. I owe $12,000 to hospital. What are my rights?

Many insurance policies provide coverage for their policy holders that are injured by or in an uninsured vehicle thus any rights you may have most likely will be governed by your insurance policy. In addition many states have laws like those of Kansas which require that all insurance policies issued in the state are required to have uninsured coverage. In Kansas even if the vehicle was insured out of state and does not have such coverage but the incident occurred in the state the laws impute such coverage to the injured party.
