What happens when a summons is received for a school loan?

I received a summons for a higher education loan. I currently live out of state and am not able to attend court. They are asking for 20% of payment immediately and I can not afford that. I have 35 days to answer the summons but im not sure what to do. What are my options?

You should submit an Answer to the Complaint otherwise a default judgment will be entered against you.  In your Answer include any and all defenses you have to the Complaint.  In the meantime, you should contact the other attorney, if there is one, or the complainant, to resolve the matter outside of court.
