What legal course should I take to try to get wages owed by a former employer?

I have already filed a wage complaint. Would hiring a lawyer help?

Hiring an attorney will let you bring your own legal action (in other words, sue your former employer) for the wages owed you. This will put you much more in control of the timing and effort put into recovering your wages, but will obviously cost you money (principally the attorney's fees, but there are also other, smaller miscellanous costs to absorb). If owed a few hundred dollars, it's likly not worth it; if owed several thousand, it would be.
