You have several options available to you for resolution. Check your contract with these parents and give notice of nonpayment as required by the contract and make sure that complies with state law. Contact the agency that licenses you for day care services (or if you are exempt, contact the city or state taxing authority) and see if you can obtain a direct garnishment of tax refunds owing to these people. If that is not an option in your state, check with the Internal Revenue Services (IRS) and see if you can attach a tax refund garnishment directly or if you now need to begin the process of suing in small claims court (if the amount is under the cap allowed in your state) or in superior or district court if the amount is over the cap.
