In Michigan, if you are arrested, there is no set time limit in which the police have to "book" you. Booking typically means that the police have to bring you to the police station, fingerprint you if necessary, take a mug shot/photo identification, and either detain you at the police station/jail to face arraignment or allow you to post a bond at the police station. However, In Michigan a person who has been arrested typically has 48 hours from the point that they are arrested to the point that they are to see a judge to be arraigned on the criminal charges and have a bond set on there behalf. Speak with a criminal defense attorney in your area to determine the specific time limit for police bookings and criminal arraignments in your State.
