Will we be deported after a shoplifting case?

My husband and I were charged with shoplifting (1st offence). We are in L2 (me), L1B (husband) visa and our court date is next month. We have hired a criminal lawyer. He told us that we may need to discuss with an immigration lawyer the following: Do we need to hire an immigration attorney and when; what is the chance of deportation; if I am now pregnant and the baby is due in 5 months, how will that affect things?

You will not be deported unless there is a conviction that will make you deportable.  You should try to get the charges dropped altogether or at least try to get the least possible offense conviction.  You might want to discuss the issue with an immigration attorney who is familiar with the criminal issues or vice versa as this may potentially have repercussions for your future ability to immigrate to the US.  It is best to do so before your appointed court date so that you have a chance to review and decide your course of action.
